Santa Claus Cross Stitch Pattern (Free PDF)

A round, friendly Santa Claus face: a floppy red hat with a white pompom and fur trim, twinkling eyes, rosy cheeks, a round nose and a big curly white beard. It is quick to stitch, mostly in solid blocks of color, and works as an ornament, a card or a small hoop.

What you need

The full chart is 36 stitches wide and 48 high: 1,175 full cross stitches in 9 DMC colors, rated easy. On 14-count Aida, cut a piece at least 9 × 9.5 in (22 × 24 cm), which leaves 3 in spare on every side, and a 6-in hoop holds the whole design. One skein of each color is enough.

Ideas for using it

  • Christmas ornament
  • Kids' first cross stitch project
  • Stocking or tree skirt patch

Stitching tips

  • Stitch the grey outline of the beard and mustache first; it is what separates the white areas from the fabric.
  • Use 1 strand of the light grey for the beard texture if you want it subtle.
  • On red or green Aida the white beard stands out even more.

Free for personal use, and you may sell a few pieces you stitched yourself. Details in the terms.
