Pegboards and sizes
A large square Perler pegboard holds 29 × 29 Midi beads, and each bead is about 5 mm across. Thick lines on the chart mark the edge of each pegboard, so you can build big designs one board at a time and fuse them together.
| Pattern | Finished size | Pegboards |
|---|---|---|
| 29 × 29 beads | 14.5 × 14.5 cm | 1 |
| 58 × 58 beads | 29.0 × 29.0 cm | 4 |
| 87 × 87 beads | 43.5 × 43.5 cm | 9 |
| 116 × 116 beads | 58.0 × 58.0 cm | 16 |
Perler or Hama?
Perler is the most common brand in the US and Hama in Europe. Their Midi beads are the same size, but the colors are not identical, so pick the brand you will buy and the maker matches each color to that range.
Getting a clean bead pattern
- Bead patterns look best small: try 29 or 58 beads wide.
- Use 8 to 15 colors. Pixel-art style pictures and logos work better than photos.
- Turn on "Leave the background empty" so you only place the beads you need.
Questions
Can I use the chart for mini beads?
Yes. The pattern is the same; only the finished size changes. Mini beads are about 2.6 mm, roughly half the size of Midi beads.
Does it work for pixel art?
Yes. Any picture works, and pixel art converts especially cleanly because every square becomes one bead.
Is my picture uploaded?
