Van Gogh Almond Blossom Cross Stitch Pattern (Free PDF)
White almond blossom against a turquoise sky. Van Gogh painted it in February 1890 to celebrate the birth of his nephew, which makes it a favorite for baby gifts. The chart is calm to stitch, with long stretches of blue around the branches.

Reading this chart
The center of the chart is column 59, row 47, a Peacock Blue stitch.
Wedgewood Ultra Very Dark has the largest connected block, 736 stitches. Gray Green Medium is the most scattered: 343 stitches in 122 separate spots, 59 of them single stitches.
A row uses about 44.4 separate runs of thread on average; the busiest is row 79, with 57. Only 0 % of the grid stays bare, so the fabric color barely shows.
Budget roughly 55 hours to 109.5 hours (how we estimate that). New to charts? Read how to read one.

- New baby gift
- Bedroom or nursery piece
- Calm, long-running project
Stitching tips
- Stitch the dark branches first and let the flowers grow out from them.
- Keep the whites clean by stitching the blossom after the darker threads.
- Grid the fabric: the sky has few landmarks to count from.
About the artwork
This chart is based on Almond Blossom by Vincent van Gogh (1890), which is in the public domain. Image source: Wikimedia Commons (public domain). We made the chart with our own pattern maker, which reduces the picture to a grid of stitches and a set of DMC threads, so expect a simplified version of the original rather than an exact copy. It has not been stitched by us, so check the preview and try a small area first.
Free for personal use, and you may sell a few pieces you stitched yourself. Details in the terms.
